This Week in Branford History

The Branford Steam Railroad: Built for Horse Races, Still Hauling Stone — Founded 1903

Branford still has its own railroad — and it was built to take people to the horse races. The Branford Steam Railroad was founded in 1903 by Branford businessman Louis A. Fisk to carry passengers to a local trotting park. Within a decade it had traded that purpose for a far more durable one, and it has been hauling crushed trap rock out of North Branford ever since.

Weekly Horoscopes

♈ Aries — Mar 21 - Apr 19

Patience isn't your favorite virtue, but Saturn parked in your sign is quietly teaching it anyway — and this week's tight square from Mars in Cancer means the harder you push against home, family, or your own tender feelings, the more the wall pushes back.

♉ Taurus — Apr 20 - May 20

Something in your daily rhythm wants a rework, and with the Sun and Mercury huddled together in fellow earth sign Virgo, you have the precision to actually do it — declutter the calendar, tighten the routine, name the craft you want to master.

♊ Gemini — May 21 - Jun 20

Your mind is unusually laser-focused this week as Mercury, your ruler, sits in its exaltation in Virgo and merges with the Sun — this is the kind of clarity that finishes drafts, catches errors, and names what's actually going on at home.

♋ Cancer — Jun 21 - Jul 22

You're protecting something or someone fiercely right now, and with Mars in your sign squaring Saturn in Aries at a tight 1.7°, that protectiveness is running straight into a career wall or an authority figure who won't budge.

♌ Leo — Jul 23 - Aug 22

Jupiter is still lounging in your sign and this week it locks into an almost-exact trine with Saturn in Aries — which is astrologer-speak for: the big vision you've been dreaming can be built into something durable, not just performed.

♍ Virgo — Aug 23 - Sep 22

Happy season — the Sun and Mercury are both parked in your sign, with Mercury in its favorite dignified seat, meaning your discernment, editing eye, and ability to name exactly what's wrong are all peaking.

♎ Libra — Sep 23 - Oct 22

Venus is home in your sign and looking gorgeous, but she's staring down Saturn in Aries across the relationship axis — meaning a partnership, a client, or a close one-on-one is asking you to be fair to yourself as well as generous to them.

♏ Scorpio — Oct 23 - Nov 21

Your intuition is running hot with three days of Full Moon light in fellow water sign Pisces late this week — dreams, hunches, and creative downloads deserve to be written down, not dismissed.

♐ Sagittarius — Nov 22 - Dec 21

Jupiter, your ruler, is holding court in Leo and forming its tightest trine of the year to Saturn in Aries — this is a rare, grown-up expansion aspect, and it's blessing your beliefs, your teaching, your publishing, your reach.

♑ Capricorn — Dec 22 - Jan 19

You've been white-knuckling something at work or in the family structure, and Mars square Saturn this week is the pinch point where the frustration peaks — the good news is that Saturn respects effort, and yours is being noticed.

♒ Aquarius — Jan 20 - Feb 18

A Full Moon in Pisces stretched across Thursday, Friday, and Saturday is asking you to release something you've quietly outgrown — a resentment, a receipt, a story about scarcity.

♓ Pisces — Feb 19 - Mar 20

This is your Full Moon week — three consecutive days of illumination in your sign, culminating with the Moon actually crossing your degrees Friday into Saturday, and you may feel every nerve ending at once.
