Curbing and Brick Pavers Coming to Town Hall Drive Over Next Two Weeks

Crews on the Main Street Reconstruction Project will spend the next two weeks along Town Hall Drive near the Green, finishing granite curbing, pouring new sidewalk base, and laying brick pavers. Expect lane shifts, pedestrian detours, and noise around the town center while the work is underway.

The Branford Steam Railroad: Built for Horse Races, Still Hauling Stone — Founded 1903

Branford still has its own railroad — and it was built to take people to the horse races. The Branford Steam Railroad was founded in 1903 by Branford businessman Louis A. Fisk to carry passengers to a local trotting park. Within a decade it had traded that purpose for a far more durable one, and it has been hauling crushed trap rock out of North Branford ever since.
